Great Wheel of China
中国最大摩天轮
Beijing—China already has the Great Wall. Now it’s getting the Great Wheel! China started building a giant Ferris wheel(摩天轮)last October to give visitors a real bird’s-eye view of the venues(比赛地)built for the 2008 Olympic Games. The wheel will be the tallest in the world—682 feet—and able to carry nearly 2,000 people. At that height, it will make the 442-foot-tall London Eye Ferris wheel look like a mere training wheel. China’s new $99 million wheel would have made inventor George Ferris proud. Ferris designed the first giant wheel for the 1893 Chicago  World’s Fair.
